Minimize What Did Jesus Do?

Jesus did not entrust himself to the undedicated. He took care of himself did not take unnecessary personal risk. He knew things about people.

John 2:23-25 “Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day. Many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.”

How are you? This common question can sometimes be uncommonly uncomfortable. When my feelings are blue and strong this question poses a quandary for me. In my black and white thinking it plays out as should I tell the truth and be honest and vulnerable or lie and say fine. This example of Jesus shows me I can sometimes keep the truth about myself to myself and use discretion about what I reveal to others. There are people I c

Jesus made a whip and drove with zeal the moneychangers from His father’s house. His actions were deliberate. It appears that sometimes strong action is necessary. It is possible that he felt anger at this inappropriate behavior in His father’s house.
John 2: 13 – 16 “And the Jews’ Passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; and make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.”
My daughter told me I should try adding my own experience to these entries so, here goes.
I grew up thinking being angry was bad. I knew some angry people an

Jesus went to the wedding in Cana. To me this is an example of supporting friends and or family members.
John 2:1-2 “And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called and his disciples, to the marriage.

Jesus did what His mother asked him to do even though His ministry had not yet started. Like Jesus we need to show respect for our parents and like Him we can share our concerns with our parents. Another observation is how His mother trusted Him.
John 2: 3-8 “And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, contai

Jesus placed God above the stuff of the world. His example can help us set our own priorities. Besides what good are the devil’s promises anyway?
Matthew 4:9 -10 “And saith unto him, All these things will I (the devil) give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Jesus called disciples to help him.  We can use the principal of delegation in our own lives. We don’t have to do everything by ourselves. We can get help from others and God.
John 1:43 “And the day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.”

Jesus followed the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Following the spirit in our decisions is Christ like.
Mark 1:12 “And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.”
Luke 4:1 “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,”

Jesus was tempted. Jesus fasted. Jesus got hungry. These are part of the natural state of human beings, no need to feel shame. There is a need to control our actions as He showed us.
Luke 4: 2 “Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.”

Jesus used his knowledge of scripture to counter temptation. We can use the scriptures to guide our choices.
Luke 4:4 “And Jesus answered him (the devil), saying, It is writt

Jesus knew things his parents did not know. Children can grow beyond their parent’s knowledge.
Luke 2: 50 “And they (Joseph and Mary) understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

Jesus was subject to his parents. Even though he had greater understanding, he followed their leadership.
Luke 2:51 “And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them….”

Jesus grew in emotionally, physically and spiritually. We might follow his example and grow in a balanced manner.
Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man.”

Jesus was baptized. We also can follow his example and participate in holy ordinances.
Matthew 3:13 “Th

This entry is covers the first things the Bible tells us about Jesus' actions.
Jesus was a creator.  Likewise we can be like Him as we go about creating things that are good.
John 1:3 “All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.” (John 1:10 “…the world was made by him…”)

Jesus grew, developed and became. Likewise we can follow his example as we grow and change.
Luke 2:40 “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him.”

Jesus did what God wanted him to do above the wishes of his earthly parents. Like him, we must follow the Father’s will above the will of those in the world regardless of the consequences.
Luke 2:43”…the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Josep
