Jesus did not baptize, his disciples did it. Is this delegation?

 

John 4:1-2 “ When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)”

 

I had never noticed this aside before, ”Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples”. I do not know why Jesus did this. One reason might be he was delegating responsibilities to others. Delegation is a blessing to both parties. The one doing the delegating frees up time for other pursuits. The one accepting the responsibilities is given an opportunity for growth from the experience.
