Minimize What Did Jesus Do?

Jesus told it like it was.
Luke 4: 18- 21 In the synagogue he read before the congregation “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
With this reading, Jesus proclaimed His ministry. The people in the synagogue understood Him to be saying that He was the promised messiah. As we will see a little later on, the people violently rejected His message. I see Jesus’ example here to be an example of standing up for the truth no matter what the

Jesus participated in religious services.
Luke 4:16 “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and as was his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”

As was his custom…What is my custom on the Sabbath day? If I am following Jesus’ example as presented here, I am attending church and participating in the meetings. When I follow this example, my knowledge and faith will be strengthened.

Jesus healed a nobleman’s son long distance.
John 4:49-50, 54 “The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him and he went this way…. This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judea unto Galilee.”

We can follow Jesus’ example by doing what we can to help others. None of us can duplicate this particular miracle, but in our own way we can help produce miracles by listening to heaven’s guidance and doing what we are told to do.

Jesus was a respected teacher.
Luke 4:15 “And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.”
It is interesting when studying the gospels chronologically that this verse in Luke occurs at the same time as John 4:43-45 in which Jesus says “that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.” Then in verse 45 he enters Galilee and the Galileans receive Him because they saw what He did. The point I am trying to make is that in some groups He was respected for what He did. In other places He was not respected. Either way, He taught what He was sent to teach. We can follow His example when we teach what we have to share even when our message is not well received by all.
